>>> PLAYER/TEAM TESTING
>>>New & Improved 2009 Testing
FHIT's testing measures are developed to measure all of the key areas of athleticism and they have been found to correlate highly with identifying playing ability on the ice. The testing procedures used at FHIT are modeled after those used at the NHL combine fitness testing for evaluating potential draft picks.
Testing is vital for identifying both strengths and weakness in each individual player, and it is a key aspect in planning player development. Off-ice testing is an integral part of the FHIT program and each player is required to complete the off-ice testing to gain acceptance into the program. Testing is done at our home facilitys in Mendota Heights, MN at the St. Thomas Ice Arena and Schwan's Super Rink in Blaine, MN. However, we can provide testing on location either transporting our own testing equipment, or using that of the facility we are testing at.
>>>Tests
We administer over 25 individual off-ice tests that measures everything from body comp, foot speed, flexibility, upper body & lower body strength. The tests are comprehensive and provide a great way of identifying key areas needed for improvement.
>>>Testing Procedure
Typically the total time testing takes up is between 50 minutes to 75 minutes per athlete. We can test up to 24 athletes at one time. The tests are ordered so that each test will minimize the effect it has on the next test. Athletes are encouraged to give 100% during each testing measure. After the tests are all completed, the data is transferred into a database and a report is formulated for each individual.
>>>Follow-Up/Feedback
After testing is completed, each athlete will receive a detailed report showing both their individual test results as well as the averages for their age group. A meeting can be arranged with a trained employee of FHIT to further discuss proper goals and a detailed training plan. Testing is normally done every 10 to 12 months. Testing is a vital part of FHIT’s philosophy on both identifying a player’s strengths/weaknesses, and also in setting goals and creating a specific plan to reach those goals.
