The Off-Ice Development consists of endurance, strength, speed, and power training centered on core stability and strength. It covers EVO Sport, lower body, upper body, plyometrics, core, speed, agility, quickness, interval training, shooting and stick-handling.
Evo Training is a systematic approach to improving human movement that allows anyone who is willing to master the basics to elevate one’s level of performance to heights of which one has only previously dreamed. This is done by teaching the human body as a whole to absorb and create huge forces while maintaining biomechanically efficient positions. This allows for the human body to be extremely injury and fatigue resistant at high levels of athletic performance.
Director PJ Atherton will be in charge of training defensemen. PJ is a former U of MN Golden Gopher defenseman and professional hockey player.
We will be coaching players specifically on the defensive aspects of the game. Skating specifically for defense will be emphasized throughout the program.
Areas of Emphasis:
· 1 on 1 play
· Gap control
· Puck retrievals
· Breakouts
· Defensive Zone Play
· Skating Technique
Head O-Set instructor Josh Liebenow is a veteran of 7 professional playing seasons both in North America and Europe. O-SET will be working with forwards on all aspects of playing the position. Players spend an average of only 60 sec. per game with the puck on their stick; this is not enough time to develop elite stick skills. Our goal is to give the players the tools that they need to capitalize on their 1 or 2 scoring chances in each game.
Areas of Emphasis:
· Elite Stickhandling
· Shot Technique
· Quick release
· Puck Protection
· Skating Technique
· Cycling
· Offensive Zone Play
FHITPlayers hosts these small group training sessions which are focused on developing and increasing overall skating performance. European techniques are utilized and taught to help better the skating performance of each player enrolled.
Areas of Emphasis:
· Stride Work
· Explosive Power
· Cornering
· Footwork
· Power Turns
· Quick Starts
· Edge Work
